The Problem with Diversion of Salon Products

Diversion of salon products has become a huge problem for distributors, but its worse for Salons and the owners and the stylists that work for them.

As a Salon owner I rely on the sale of products to keep my salon running. I try hard to keep my salon stocked with good quality hair products ( shampoos, conditioners and styling products) . I also want my clients to buy these products to keep their hair in the best possible condition. For a  client who will spend hundreds of dollars on their hair in the salon, then buy products at the drug store, super market  or worse, at a discount department store, makes no sense to me. 

I can not guarantee my work if low quality shampoo and conditioners or old , watered down , bacteria infested products are being used, especially after chemical services.  Clients do not know what they are getting in these products.

WHAT IS DIVERSION?
If you don't know the answer to this question - you're not alone. Nine out of ten consumers do not know what diversion is. But you probably have witnessed it. Diversion occurs when products are sold in “unauthorized” places. Genuine Redken products are sold only in authorized salons, spas or authorized salon related websites

WHY DIVERSION IS BAD? 
Diverted products can be counterfeit, diluted formulas, or old, expired formulas that may not be safe to use. Redken states on all its advertising, "Genuine Products Guaranteed Only in Salons." This means if you buy our products in a supermarket, drugstore or any other outlet other than an authorized salon, spa or authorized salon related website, we cannot guarantee that it is an authentic Redken product that will perform as tested. 

ARE YOU IN DANGER? 
You could be. Contaminated or counterfeit products could cause irritation or even infection.

WHO IS DIVERTING PRODUCTS? 
Products are diverted by unauthorized distributors and salons or their employees, plus other dishonest individuals who see profit in piracy.
